“Tamil Industry didn’t seem to take advantage of the significance of documentary filmmaking. Documentaries remind us about the greatness of people who lived and continue to live among us”, exclaimed G Dhananjayan while talking about his documentary venture, A CREATOR WITH MIDAS TOUCH, a documentary on veteran writer, director and producer Panchu Arunachalam
Being the founder chairman of Blue Ocean Film & Television Academy (BOFTA), Dhananjayan along with cinematographer Sudharsan Srinivasan, editor J.S. Vignesh and Shamanth’s work on music made this documentary with the help of his producers, Lalitha Jeyananth and S. Uma Maheshwari of Thiru Arul Productions.
“The research for this documentary production kick started in the month of April. By closely working with the legend himself, I took notes of every detail he divulged during my sessions with him. I met him almost everyday for 2 hours and strengthened my research material. The data in paper were converted into chapters and eventually a script was derived.” detailed Dhananjayan while talking explaining the process.
He was excited to share a tiny trivia about Tamil cinema by stating, “Many insights are going to be unveiled about Panchu sir and Tamil cinema in a whole through my documentary. Did you know it was Panchu sir who introduced actresses like Kushboo and Gautami? In fact, the maestro, Isaignani Ilayaraja himself was introduced by in Annakili.”
The documentary will be telecasted on a popular TV channel on an episode basis while for the theatrical release, it will be shortened to 135 minutes and will be screened at a grand event for the film industry and media in April/May 2016.
